The main objective of the H.P. State Seed & Organic Produce Certification Agency is to maintain, provide and make available to the public high quality seeds of notified varieties and propagating materials and to ensure their genetic identity, known pedigree, high varietal purity and good seedling value.

Funds of the Agency

During the year 2010-2011 the Agency generated Rs. 79.24 lacs through its own resources by way of Registration, Inspection and Tagging/ Sealing etc. Rs. 44.00 lac were given by the H.P. State government as G.I.A. to meet out the expenses on salaries and establishment and Rs. 6.25 lac. was also received from the Govt. of India in shape of Grant-in-aid for creation of Capital Assets (Plan) 2010-11.

Certification Charges

The certification charges being realised by the Agency per unit on account of services rendered by it are given in Table-5. These charges are applicable w.e.f.  June, 2006.

Receipt and Expenditure

During the year under report the Agency generated income by way of registration and inspection fees to the tune of Rs.51,55,590.00 Whereas, from tagging & sealing of seeds it was of the order of Rs.6,73,557.00 and Rs. 20,94,566.00 from other sources such as cost of application forms, own seed certificates and interest on deposits etc. Thus the total income from all sources was Rs. 79,23,713.00. Apart from this an amount of Rs. 44.00 lac was received from the State Government for meeting the salary and establishment expanses as grant-in-aid and Rs. 6.25 lac. was also received from the Govt. of India in shape of Grant-in-aid for creation of Capital Assets (Plan) 2010-11. Therefore, the total receipts were of Rs. 1,29,48.713.00 lac. during the year under report. On the other hand, the total expenditure under different heads was of Rs. 1,32,98,793.00 lac during the same period.
